Description | Black-headed Pardalote or Striated Pardalote (Pardalotus striatus melanocephalus) on edge of gorge at Gorge Lookout, Porcupine Gorge National Park, Queensland, Australia. Photographed on 19 April 2016. A very difficult bird to photograph as it was down into the gorge and was always on the other side of the trees. It had a constant chirp chirp (described in the books as 'witta-witta'). This race has a broad white stripe on the wing behind the small red spot, and a very black head with a bright orange stripe. |
