Description | Diamond-scale or Squaretail Mullet (Liza vaigiensis syn: Ellochelon vaigiensis) with black pectoral fins and yellow tail. Length of fish about 8-10 cm. Found just off the beach at the Moorea Fare Mite near Hauru, Mo'orea, Windward Islands, French Polynesia. Photographed on 24 July 2017. The Australian Faunal Directory has Liza vaigiensis as the accepted name with Ellochelon vaigiensis as a synonym, whereas FishBase has it the other way around. fishbase.tw/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?ID=5656 |
