Description Parasitic wasps on fruit of the sandpaper fig (three photos): The figs, on a very small, immature, tree are only about pea size, so the body length of each wasp is only a couple of millimetres. The reading I've done suggests that they are parasitising the larvae of the (even smaller!) 'fig wasps' which pollinate the fig. Their ovipositors are 150% of their body length, very strong for their thickness, and supported in action by a peculiar structure emerging from the underside of the abdomen. ID help is *very* welcome, since I can't even place them to family.
