Description | A male native Australian bee (Lasioglossum sp. - subgenus Chilalictus - possibly L. brunnesetum) on cultivated Boronia heterophylla X B. stricta at Ballan, Victoria, Australia. Photographed on 12 November 2015. A very small bee (about 6 mm long) and very fast flying - difficult to photograph on a windy day because of the speed of their flight and reluctance to land. There were several around on that day. Ken Walker of the Victorian Museum identified it as definitely a male Lasioglossum (Chilalictus) sp. - dificult to identify without seeing the genitalia under a microscope but possibly L. brunnesetum |
