Description Leptosema chapmanii from the Burra Range (now White Mountains National Park), 25 km west of Pentland, Queensland, Australia. Photographed on 5 May 1973. Small plant with dark red basal flowers. A very rare plant, this is only the second plant seen in a study of the area lasting over six years. On sandstone. Flowers inconspicuous at base of plant. It would appear that this plant flowers irregularly - probably only after fire, and would appear to be pollinated by ants as the flowers sit at ground level. Voucher: A.D. Chapman 1331 (BRI AQ0269157, CANB 255787) - PARATYPE used in the original description of the species by M.D. Crisp. Digitised from a slide. The original slide, which is of higher quality, is held. NB. This species was named after the collector and photographer.
