Description | Unusual double spiked inflorescence of Isolepis crassiuscula (alpine clubsedge) growing in burnt alpine heathland near Gun Lagoon Creek, Central Plateau Conservation Area, Tasmania. Although Isolepis species can have multiple spikes in an inflorescence within subgenus Fluitantes (which includes crassiuscula) single spikes are typical. Within this individual plant this was the only twin spike, suggesting a developmental hiccup. |
